Omega-6 / Omega-3 balance and inflammatory processes

76% of people in Europe are deficient in omega-3 (DHA and EPA) [1]. DHA and EPA are essential long-chain fatty acids. While omega-3 fatty acids have an anti-inflammatory effect in our body, omega-6 fatty acids are pro-inflammatory [2]. An optimal omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 3:1 is considered.

Our current Western diet has ensured that over the past few decades we have developed a very poor omega-6 to omega-3 ratio of 15:1 [3]. This promotes excessive inflammatory processes in our bodies, which often do not manifest themselves immediately but remain latent. Thus, we have low-burning fires throughout our bodies that can flare up at any time. Often, a small overload is enough to cause physical discomfort. To prevent unwanted inflammation in our bodies, it is important to restore the ratio to balance.

Spoon of Change® Omega-3 Algae Oil Vegan with Vitamin D3 supports brain ¹, eyes ¹, heart ², bones ³, muscles ³ and immune system ³ .

¹ DHA contributes to the maintenance of normal brain function and normal vision (from 250 mg DHA daily).
² EPA and DHA contribute to normal heart function (from 250 mg EPA and DHA daily).
³ Vitamin D3 contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, normal muscle function and normal function of the immune system.

Dosage based on scientific studies

For an optimal supply of Omega-3, it's not a particularly high dose that's crucial, but rather the individual's omega-3 blood levels. Therefore, we selected our dosage based on study results on the average European Omega-3 index status to bring the supply to the optimal range of 8% [4]. Our Spoon of Change® Omega Algae Oil Vegan contains 1400 mg DHA + EPA (1529 mg total Omega-3) per daily dose in the most bioavailable form as triglyceride [5].

Intake

The recommended daily dose is 5 ml, which corresponds to 1 teaspoon. It is best taken with a meal. Different dosage recommendations apply to pregnant and breastfeeding women.
The recommended daily intake of 5 ml (=teaspoon) should not be exceeded. The oil should not be heated.

Storage

Omega-3 algae oil should be stored away from sunlight and at stable room temperature. Once opened, refrigerate and consume within 45 days. Crystals may form at temperatures below 4°C. These will dissolve after a few minutes at room temperature. Shake the bottle briefly before consumption. Keep the product out of reach of small children. Food supplements are not a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.

Why does the recipe contain olive oil and other ingredients besides algae oil?

Algae oil is a very precious natural product, but also a very sensitive one. The oil is inherently unstable. This means that it oxidizes quickly and can therefore spoil quickly. This is referred to as a high TOTOX value. Pure algae oils and algae capsules, to which no other oil is added for stability, often have a poor TOTOX value and quickly become rancid after purchase. A strong fishy taste is an indication that an omega-3 oil is no longer good and should no longer be safely consumed.

To ensure that our Omega-3 remains stable and
is safe, we have premium olive oil from controlled
Organically grown, and a little vitamin E (tocopherols) and rosemary extract are added as antioxidants. This approach is supported by studies and experts [6]. The olive oil used in the amount used has no effect on the content or absorption of omega-3 fatty acids in the body. Our Spoon of Change® Vegan Algae Oil is therefore science-based, safe, and pleasant to the taste.
